Buy sideboard on ManapoolDimir Tempo relies on free countermagic (Force of Will, Daze) and cheap disruption to protect Murktide Regent and Tamiyo, so Chancellor of the Annex can be revealed for free from our opening hand to tax their first spell of the game, disrupting their early Thoughtseize or cantrip sequencing before we even start casting spells. Once in play later its flying body and ongoing counter-unless-they-pay-1 ability continues to punish their cantrip-heavy plan. We cut Throes of Chaos since its single cascade is the weakest and most mana-inefficient of our cascade spells when we need to prioritize resilience against countermagic. This matchup is about surviving their disruption long enough to land a cascade threat, so keep Ancient Tomb and the rest of the manabase untouched.
Ocelot Pride Midrange goes wide fast with Ocelot Pride, Ajani, and token generators, so Fury's ETB 4 damage divided among targets can wipe out multiple small Cat tokens, and evoking it by exiling a red card from hand lets us do that without spending mana. Ingot Chewer stays in the sideboard: their main deck has no artifacts to destroy, and Goblin Bombardment is an enchantment, so it isn't a legal target. We trim two Tibalt's Trickery since a single reactive counter per turn does little against a deck that curves out with cheap creatures and attacks quickly. Trumpeting Carnosaur stays in, since it can be discarded for 3 damage to a creature and its discover 5 still gives value. Our Creative Technique plan still wants to find Emrakul or Apex Devastator to stabilize and swing the game once the board is under control.
WU is a countermagic-heavy deck built around Force of Will, Daze, Stifle, and Teferi, Time Raveler, so Chancellor of the Annex revealed from our opening hand taxes their first spell for free, disrupting their early Ponder or Brainstorm sequencing before we start our own turns. In the late game its flying body and continuous counter-unless-pay-1 ability keeps punishing their cantrip-dependent gameplan. We trim Throes of Chaos as our weakest cascade spell since this matchup is about grinding through countermagic rather than maximizing card selection. Be mindful that Teferi, Time Raveler can strip our ability to respond at instant speed, so sequence cascade spells on our own turn when possible.
