Dimir Tempo wants to Thoughtseize and Wasteland us into a resolving Murktide Regent or Tamiyo, so protecting our own plays is more important than adding curve-outs. Spell Pierce punishes their tendency to tap low for cantrips and can tax their disruption spells like Thoughtseize. Consign to Memory answers triggered abilities like Bauble triggers and also counters their Orcish Bowmasters' triggered ability. Pinnacle Emissary and Sewer-veillance Cam are our weakest bodies against a removal-light disruption shell, so they make way for cheap protective interaction.

Ocelot Pride Midrange floods the board with small lifelinking Cat tokens off Ocelot Pride and Guide of Souls, so cheap removal that kills 1- and 2-toughness threats is premium. Lightning Bolt kills Guide of Souls, Ocelot Pride, or an Ajani, Nacatl Pariah Cat token outright. Abrade can burn a small creature such as Thalia or a freshly made Cat token. We trim our lowest-impact cantrips since this matchup is decided by removal efficiency against a wide, aggressive board.

Eldrazi backs its aggressive colorless creatures with Chalice of the Void, which can lock our zero- and one-mana artifacts like Lotus Petal and Mishra's Bauble out of the game entirely. Pithing Needle is best deployed naming Eye of Ugin, shutting off their powerful tutor ability and cutting off their late-game threat-finding — Chalice of the Void's lockout is a triggered ability and Eldrazi Temple's outputs are mana abilities, so neither is a legal target for the Needle. Haywire Mite gives us a cheap artifact-based blocker plus the ability to sacrifice into removing a Chalice of the Void or other troublesome artifact. We trim marginal cantrips since Chalice of the Void is the single scariest card to play around here.
