Boros Energy is a fast, wide aggro deck that pressures you with early creatures like Ragavan and Guide of Souls while threatening Blood Moon to cut you off blue mana. Galvanic Blast comes in as efficient interaction to pick off Ragavan before it generates value and to remove small threats that race your artifact gameplan. Grafdigger's Cage shuts off Seasoned Pyromancer's graveyard trigger and any Ajani reanimation lines. Vexing Bauble taxes their non-permanent spells and can slow down Thraben Charm or Galvanic Discharge. Metallic Rebuke and situational artifacts like Skateboard and Aether Spellbomb come out since you want to be proactive and interact on the ground rather than hold up mana — your Urza's Saga constructs and Kappa Cannoneer can go over the top if you stabilize the early turns.
Jeskai Blink is a tempo-control deck built around Phelia and Ephemerate to generate value through ETB effects, backed by Solitude and Phlage as premium interaction. Their post-board plan includes Obsidian Charmaw to attack your Urza's Saga and High Noon to punish your artifact-heavy gameplan, so protecting your combo pieces is critical. Bring in counterspells to fight their interaction — Consign to Memory handles Solitude and other spell-based removal, while Mystical Dispute and Swan Song give you cheap protection for Kappa Cannoneer or Weapons Manufacturing activations. Trim bullets like Pithing Needle and Shadowspear that have narrow application here, along with a Tormod's Crypt and Aether Spellbomb since graveyard hate is largely irrelevant. The goal is to land an early Urza's Saga or Kappa Cannoneer and protect it through their counterspell and exile-based removal suite.
The mirror revolves around racing to land Kappa Cannoneer while disrupting your opponent's ability to do the same — the player who sticks an unanswered Cannoneer first almost always wins. Galvanic Blast comes in as efficient interaction against Cannoneer and Pinnacle Emissary, and to punish artifact-light draws that leave the opponent exposed. Mystical Dispute and Swan Song answer Cannoneer and Sink into Stupor at minimal cost, giving you cheap counterspell backup that your opponent is unlikely to have in the same density. Tormod's Crypt, Pithing Needle, Thundering Falls, and Skateboard are low-impact singletons with minimal cross-matchup value in a game decided by threat density and tempo. Keep your full artifact count high to ensure Kappa Cannoneer and Weapons Manufacturing fire on time.
