Boros Energy's engine relies on triggered abilities from Guide of Souls, Ajani, Nacatl Pariah, and Ocelot Pride tokens; Torpor Orb shuts down nearly every value trigger they have and is an extremely powerful hate piece. The Filigree Sylex sweeps small creatures including pride tokens and energy payoffs at a low mana cost. Walking Ballista pings away small token creatures and provides a Karn-tutorable answer to their wide boards. Skysovereign deals direct damage to planeswalkers and creatures. Trinisphere and Vexing Bauble don't interact with their creature-based plan, while Ulamog is too expensive to matter before Boros kills you; Sire of Seven Deaths is trimmed as a slower value piece.
Jeskai Blink's power comes from Phelia and Ephemerate triggering enter-the-battlefield abilities repeatedly; Torpor Orb is the most backbreaking hate piece, shutting down all of Phelia's triggers and Solitude's cycling mode. Chalice of the Void at one stops Ephemerate, Galvanic Discharge, and other one-drops. The Filigree Sylex sweeps the tokens and small creatures that Jeskai generates. Ensnaring Bridge is a lockout piece against Solitude and their creature-based pressure. Vexing Bauble and Trinisphere are less relevant here; Dismember is trimmed since Ensnaring Bridge and Torpor Orb are better answers to their creature package.
Affinity's draw is centered on artifact synergies with Mox Opal, Urza's Saga, and Engineered Explosives, but it respects Ensnaring Bridge as a lockout — with your hand depleting below their biggest creature's power, you become untouchable. The Filigree Sylex clears their entire artifact board at the cost of one counter when you have excess mana. Walking Ballista is a Karn-tutorable threat and answer to small artifact creatures. Torpor Orb shuts off Emry, Lurker of the Loch's triggered ability and Kappa Cannoneer's ward effect (ward requires a trigger). Trinisphere hurts your own development here since Affinity can work around it; Dismember is trimmed since protection artifacts are better.
