This matchup is a race against their big colorless creatures and grindy card advantage from Ancient Stirrings/Malevolent Rumble/Kozilek's Command. Brotherhood's End can wipe their early Eldrazi Spawn tokens and small creatures or blow up their cheap artifacts (Vexing Bauble, Soul-Guide Lantern), while Untimely Malfunction gives us cheap, flexible interaction that can destroy an artifact like Blade of the Bloodchief or a mana rock such as Springleaf Drum or Talisman of Resilience. Vexing Bauble only counters spells cast with no mana spent, and our spells are all cast by paying their costs, so it is not a real concern for us. Artist's Talent is too slow against their efficient card selection, and Wish is a low-impact tutor when we need proactive, fast interaction instead. Keep the core combo intact and just aim to go off before they assemble Emrakul or grind us out with Kozilek's Command.

This is a mirror-style combo race against the Basking Broodscale/Blade of the Bloodchief engine, so interaction that destroys Blade of the Bloodchief (an artifact) is premium since it is the lynchpin that turns their sacrifice loop into a win. Wear // Tear and Untimely Malfunction can both destroy that artifact pre-combo, and Untimely Malfunction can also redirect or disrupt their other key artifacts like Vexing Bauble or Soul-Guide Lantern. Artist's Talent and Wish are too slow to matter in a race where whoever assembles their engine first usually wins, so they come out for proactive hate pieces. Prioritize speed: this matchup often comes down to who goes off on an earlier turn.

Izzet Prowess is an aggressive, low-curve deck full of 1-2 toughness creatures (Dragon's Rage Channeler, Monastery Swiftspear, Slickshot Show-Off), so Brotherhood's End sweeping for 3 damage to each creature is excellent at resetting their board cheaply. Artist's Talent doesn't do enough to stem the bleeding from their efficient burn and cheap threats, so it comes out for a card that directly answers their gameplan. This is a race, so prioritize going off as fast as possible while using the sweeper if we fall behind on board.
