Surgical Extraction can strip a copy of Malevolent Rumble, Ancient Stirrings, or exile a reanimation/combo piece to disrupt their consistency. Combat trick-heavy cards like Monstrous Rage and Assault Strobe are weaker here since they don't answer the opponent's board or help race past Emrakul, the Promised End. Keep the burn suite intact and try to close the game before they assemble Urza's Saga or land their top-end threats.

In the mirror, Unholy Heat is premium removal, killing Dragon's Rage Channeler, Monastery Swiftspear, and Slickshot Show-Off for one mana, or dealing 6 with delirium against bigger threats. Consign to Memory counters colorless spells like Mishra's Bauble and any other colorless spells they cast, denying value and tempo. Combat tricks like Monstrous Rage and Mutagenic Growth are less impactful since both decks race with removal and card selection, so proactive interaction outperforms pump spells here. Prioritize killing their prowess creatures before they connect, and hold up Consign to Memory when possible to blank their card advantage.

Esper Blink relies on cheap interaction and colorless spells, and Consign to Memory is well-positioned to counter any colorless spells and triggered abilities they generate for cheap replicate value. Spell Snare picks off their two-mana cards like Orcish Bowmasters, disrupting their value engine before it snowballs.
