Dimir Control vs The EPIC Storm

Updated today

The EPIC Storm wants to chain Dark Ritual, Lotus Petal, Chrome Mox, and Mox Opal into a storm count big enough to resolve Tendrils of Agony for lethal, so our creature removal like Fatal Push and Snuff Out does essentially nothing against a deck with no real creatures to kill. Damping Sphere is excellent since it taxes every subsequent spell they cast in a turn by {1}, directly punishing their storm count and mana-efficient artifact mana engine. Surgical Extraction can strip a copy of Tendrils of Agony, Burning Wish, or Beseech the Mirror out of their deck entirely once one hits a graveyard, denying their combo redundancy. The extra Toxic Deluge is largely a dead card against their near-creatureless plan but can still answer a rare Runehorn Hellkite, so we keep removal trimmed and lean into the disruptive artifacts and graveyard hate that actually interact with their game plan; Thoughtseize remains in the mainboard as key proactive disruption against their hand.
