Death and Taxes (Yorion) is a grindy white creature deck that disrupts with Thoughtseize, Wasteland, and Swords to Plowshares while assembling value engines like Stoneforge Mystic and Recruiter of the Guard, so we want durable blockers and cheap interaction against their early creatures. Barrowgoyf's deathtouch and lifelink make it a strong blocker against their aggressive ground creatures like Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd, while gaining us life against their steady clock. Portable Hole answers cheap early threats like Stoneforge Mystic or Aether Vial before they generate value. Personal Tutor is too slow against their proactive disruption suite, and Voice of Victory is redundant with our new creature plan against a deck that already has plenty of blockers.
