Lands has plenty of cheap spells and free mana (Mox Diamond, Exploration, Eldrazi Spawn tokens from Malevolent Rumble), so they can often pay for Daze and it does little in this matchup. Barrowgoyf is a proactive threat: it is a lifelink, deathtouch body whose size grows with the card types in all graveyards, and it gives us a clock while holding off their ground creatures. It cannot stop Marit Lage, though. The token is a 20/20 with flying and indestructible, so Barrowgoyf can't block it and deathtouch won't destroy it. Our plan against Dark Depths is to win the race or keep them from assembling it, not to block it. Portable Hole can exile an early Mox Diamond before it ramps them, though its main value is flexibility against small nonland permanents they commit, such as Pithing Needle, Expedition Map, Grafdigger's Cage, Skateboard, or Disruptor Flute. We keep the rest of our configuration, but Wasteland and Ghost Quarter can punish our nonbasic dual lands, so be careful about how and when we expose them.
