Lands wants to chain Mox Diamond, Dark Depths with Thespian's Stage copies, and multiple Wasteland activations in a single turn, so Damping Sphere is excellent at taxing their multi-spell turns and neutralizing lands tapped for multiple mana like Ancient Tomb. Tormod's Crypt can exile their graveyard to disrupt Life from the Loam's dredge recursion loop. We cut a couple of Lotus Petals and an Urza's Bauble since this is a grindy, attrition-based matchup where Damping Sphere's taxing effect matters more than raw speed, and our own Urza's Saga and artifact lands are vulnerable to their Wasteland, so prioritize deploying threats before they assemble mana denial.
