Jeskai Artifacts relies on Goblin Welder, Goblin Engineer, and Emry, Lurker of the Loch to assemble and rebuy its artifact engine, and has essentially no removal for your creatures or graveyard interaction beyond occasional sideboard cards. Into the Flood Maw gives you cheap instant-speed bounce to reset their key creatures like Emry or a crewed Sewer-veillance Cam, disrupting their engine for a turn while you race to your own kill. Golgari Thug's small body isn't needed against their low-power creature base, so swap it for the more flexible and cheap interaction. This matchup is largely a race since neither deck interacts much with the other's gameplan directly.
