Deafening Silence is devastating against a control deck that relies on Up the Beanstalk, Ponder, Leyline Binding, and Force of Will to function each turn, restricting them to a single noncreature spell while our threats are mostly creatures. Pyroblast punishes Force of Will, Force of Negation, Brainstorm, Ponder, and Spell Pierce, letting you fight through their counterspell suite cheaply. Voice of Victory's ability to stop spells on your turn matters less here since their removal like Swords to Plowshares and Leyline Binding is often used proactively at instant speed anyway, and Static Prison can be answered by Force of Will or simply outclassed by their card advantage engines, so both are trimmed. Watch for Solitude as a free answer to your key threats.
