Null Rod isn't a slam-dunk here since WU has few activated-ability artifacts, but it does stop any Clue tokens from Tamiyo's investigate trigger from being cracked. It isn't free for us either: Null Rod stops activated abilities of artifacts, including mana abilities, so it would shut off Chrome Mox (cut before bringing in Null Rod to avoid the conflict) and the tap ability on The One Ring, which is the cost of running it. Urza's Saga is an enchantment land rather than an artifact, so its abilities still work. Pithing Needle can name Wasteland to stop their mana denial plan, since Wasteland's sacrifice ability is an activated, non-mana ability. Chrome Mox is cut because exiling a card from hand is too costly against a deck with efficient countermagic like Force of Will and Daze that punishes going down a card. Lavaspur Boots is low-impact against a deck full of cheap removal like Swords to Plowshares, since ward 1 only taxes that removal by a single mana.
