Death and Taxes leans on Thoughtseize, Wasteland, and Karakas alongside a low curve of disruptive creatures, so the extra Veil of Summer protects your hand and combo turn from their black discard while giving hexproof from Thoughtseize-adjacent targeted effects. Faerie Macabre can proactively discard to remove reanimation or recursion targets if they bring in graveyard synergies, and blocks profitably against their small ground creatures if needed. Omniscience is too slow against a deck applying steady pressure with Stoneforge Mystic and equipment, and Acererak is easily exiled by Swords to Plowshares before attacking, so both are cut for protective interaction. This keeps your full manabase and combo core intact while making your key turns more resilient to their disruption.
