Lands doesn't present much of a clock outside Marit Lage off Dark Depths and grinding value engines like Life from the Loam and Urza's Saga tokens, so Barrowgoyf gives us a real, resilient threat that outpaces their control-oriented plan while benefiting from graveyard fuel. Engineered Explosives is flexible removal that can answer an Urza's Saga Construct token or another small permanent as needed. We shave Waterlogged Teachings, Expedition Map, and an Island since we don't need extra land-finding against a deck whose own mana disruption (Wasteland, Ghost Quarter) is the main threat to play around, not more of our own. Keep in mind that Karakas only targets legendary creatures, so it cannot target noncreature planeswalkers like Karn, the Great Creator or Ugin, Eye of the Storms, and try to close the game before Dark Depths assembles Marit Lage.
