Affinity relies heavily on lands that produce colorless mana and Urza's Saga; Break the Ice's overload mode for {4}{B}{B} destroys every land that is snow or could produce colorless mana, which devastates a deck built around Urza's Saga, Shivan Reef, and Snow-Covered Island while also being a normal single-target land kill in the early game against a slow draw. Grafdigger's Cage stops their artifact recursion engines (Emry casts artifact spells from the graveyard, which Cage explicitly forbids) though it doesn't stop Urza's Saga's noncreature tutor targets from entering from the library, marginal but free. We cut Rite of Consumption as a sacrifice-based card since we have no reliable fodder against a low-creature-count artifact deck, alongside Revitalizing Repast, prioritizing mana denial and pressure instead.
