Gruul Basking Broodscale Combo wins by looping Basking Broodscale with Blade of the Bloodchief for infinite mana and Eldrazi Spawn tokens, so Engineered Explosives set to destroy mana value 1 permanents can blow up Blade of the Bloodchief before the loop starts. Nihil Spellbomb exiles their graveyard, which shrinks Emrakul's cost reduction and can shut off Shifting Woodland's delirium, while Mystical Dispute counters a spell unless its controller pays {3}, taxing their key pieces when they are tapped low. Sheoldred's Edict is weak since Eldrazi Spawn tokens are easily remade and the combo doesn't hinge on a single nontoken creature or planeswalker, so it comes out along with slow, reactive cards like Quantum Riddler and Flow State that don't interact with the combo quickly enough. Prioritize countering or killing Basking Broodscale and Blade of the Bloodchief on sight before the loop goes online: Counterspell can stop either one, while Fatal Push and Spell Snare line up against Basking Broodscale, which has mana value 2.
