Surgical Extraction can strip a copy of Solitude or Path to Exile from their graveyard after the first cast to blunt recursion via flashback-less removal redundancy. Lightning Bolt struggles to trade profitably against their removal-heavy, low-creature-count plan, and Cling to Dust is low-impact since this deck isn't graveyard-reliant, so both come out for better counterspell density against their sweepers and disruption.
