Goryo's Vengeance reanimates Atraxa, Grand Unifier or Griselbrand from the graveyard, so Nihil Spellbomb and Surgical Extraction are premium answers that can strip the reanimation target from the graveyard before they ever get to cast Goryo's Vengeance on it. Mystical Dispute gets its full discount against their many blue spells (Faithful Mending, Spell Pierce, Preordain) and can also counter Goryo's Vengeance itself at full price if needed. Sheoldred's Edict is weaker here since it only removes one threat and their real plan is reanimating a single giant creature that dodges typical removal via exile-based hate being more proactive; Lightning Bolt and Cling to Dust don't meaningfully interact with a 7/7, so they come out.
