The Broodscale combo lives and dies on cheap artifacts (Blade of the Bloodchief, plus one-mana artifact targets like Vexing Bauble, Haywire Mite, and Soul-Guide Lantern that Urza's Saga can fetch); Meltdown at X=1 blows up Blade of the Bloodchief directly, breaking the combo's engine. Our own Vexing Bauble stops any 0-cost interaction they might deploy and cycles late if unneeded. Since their removal suite is slower (Kozilek's Command, Dismember), our proactive reanimation plan can still race if we can't find artifact hate in time, so we keep Thoughtseize and Fatal Push fully intact to strip Basking Broodscale or Blade of the Bloodchief before they combo off.
