Belcher is a fast combo deck aiming to cast Goblin Charbelcher off Lotus Bloom or Tameshi, Reality Architect mana to kill us out of nowhere, so we need to tax their explosive mana rather than race them. Trinisphere is our best card here, forcing Lotus Bloom, Jwari Disruption, and their cheap counterspells to cost three mana minimum, which can completely derail a turn built around a specific mana count for Goblin Charbelcher. Damping Sphere further punishes any turn where they try to chain Whir of Invention into Goblin Charbelcher off a single big mana source, and Pithing Needle can name Goblin Charbelcher itself to shut off its activated ability as a hard answer. We trim our slower colorless value pieces since this matchup is decided by whether we can disrupt their one explosive turn, not by grinding resources.
