Esper GenericBlink relies heavily on Solitude and Thoughtseize disruption plus flicker value engines like Phelia and Flickerwisp, so Stubborn Denial helps protect our key threats or counter a removal spell once we have a 4-power creature online. Pithing Needle can name Kaito, Bane of Nightmares to stop its loyalty abilities, or Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd is a legendary creature so it can only have one copy active, limiting Needle's value there, but it's still flexible against other activated abilities they bring in. We trim the lowest-impact equipment since this matchup rewards resolving and protecting a single large threat rather than going wide with small artifacts. Teferi, Time Raveler in their list also restricts our ability to respond at instant speed, so sequencing threats before they land Teferi matters.
