This Eldrazi combo deck's key piece, Blade of the Bloodchief, is a one-mana artifact, so Meltdown at X=1 destroys it outright and also catches Vexing Bauble, Haywire Mite, Soul-Guide Lantern, and Springleaf Drum, unraveling the loop before it starts. Fire Magic on the Fira tier for {2} deals 2 damage, killing an unadapted Basking Broodscale or a 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn token in response to the sacrifice loop, disrupting the combo at instant speed. Counterspell and Subtlety remain crucial to stop Devourer of Destiny or Emrakul as the backup big-mana plan. Spell Snare is mostly dead since Basking Broodscale and Blade of the Bloodchief are mana value 2 and 1 respectively (Blade dodges it, Broodscale is a valid but low-impact target), so we trim it for more proactive artifact hate.
