The central threat in this matchup is Teferi, Time Raveler, which shuts off our entire instant-speed permission suite and can bounce Lotus Bloom or Goblin Charbelcher at will, so we prioritize Consign to Memory as a clean answer to resolved permanents and bring in Mystical Dispute to counter Teferi before it lands. Harbinger of the Seas is a devastating trump here given their mana base is built almost entirely on Flooded Strand, Marsh Flats, and Polluted Delta — a resolved Harbinger will punish their fetching heavily and pressure their life total while we dig for the Belcher kill. Flusterstorm comes in to shore up counter wars against Thoughtseize, Ephemerate, and other non-creature spells, giving us an additional cheap piece of disruption that scales well in spell-heavy exchanges. Suppression Ray is too slow and too low-impact against a deck that generates continuous value through blink triggers rather than through sustained attacks, and Spell Snare and Stern Scolding are too conditional when our priority is protecting the combo through broader interaction.
