Goryo's Vengeance reanimates Atraxa or Griselbrand from the graveyard for an explosive turn, so Surgical Extraction can strip a discarded Atraxa or Griselbrand (or Goryo's Vengeance itself) right out of their graveyard, hand, and library before they can combo off. Soul-Guide Lantern's ETB exile also snipes a key reanimation target the moment it hits the yard, and both are proactive plays that don't cost us tempo. Eidolon of the Great Revel is risky here since this deck runs almost no cheap spells worth punishing (mostly 2-4 mana spells and lands) and dies to their removal suite (Fatal Push, Solitude) for little value, so it comes out alongside Shard Volley since we need to be racing/disrupting rather than sacrificing lands. This matchup is a race against their turn-3 kill, so keep maximum pressure while adding graveyard disruption.
