Goryo's Vengeance is a fast reanimator combo deck, bringing back Griselbrand or Atraxa, Grand Unifier from the graveyard for a huge tempo and card advantage swing. Surgical Extraction lets you target a card in their graveyard—such as a cast Goryo's Vengeance or a discarded Griselbrand—and strip all copies from their graveyard, hand, and library, cutting off their most explosive line. Eidolon of the Great Revel isn't worth the risk here since this matchup is a race against their graveyard plan rather than a spell-slinging mirror, and racing consistently with your own clock matters more than the extra damage. Keep the rest of your burn plan intact and prioritize closing the game fast, since their deck can go over the top of you if given time.
