Dimir Midrange wants to control the game with Counterspell, Force of Negation, Spell Snare, and card selection like Preordain, so Inquisition of Kozilek strips a counterspell or a copy of Psychic Frog before it resolves, which is far more proactive than reactive removal spells. Surgical Extraction can strip a second Psychic Frog or Orcish Bowmasters out of their deck and graveyard after the first copy dies or gets discarded, cutting into their most resilient threats. Ashiok, Dream Render shuts off fetchland-based deck thinning and graveyard shenanigans while its -1 strips their yard, which is relevant against a deck running Polluted Delta, Flooded Strand, and Scalding Tarn. March of Wretched Sorrow and Fell the Profane are less appealing since their best removal targets are Psychic Frog and Orcish Bowmasters, both small bodies you'd rather answer with efficient discard or Fatal Push, and this matchup rewards proactive disruption over reactive removal. Sheoldred's Edict is cut down to one copy since their creature count is low and mostly small, so the sacrifice mode is a weaker rate than the incoming disruption.
