Goryo's Vengeance wants to reanimate Atraxa, Grand Unifier or Griselbrand for a huge tempo/value swing, so Surgical Extraction is excellent to strip Goryo's Vengeance itself or their reanimation target once it hits a graveyard, shutting off their combo entirely. Note Surgical Extraction can be paid with 2 life instead of mana, making it fast and easy to fit into our curve. Memory's Journey can shuffle away a stranded Atraxa or Griselbrand from their graveyard before they find a way to reanimate it, disrupting their plan further. Burning Inquiry is far too dangerous here since it can accidentally discard our own key cards while also filling their graveyard with reanimation targets, and Conflagrate is too slow against a deck that can win before we assemble a big enough X.
