Esper Ephemerate is a value-control deck leaning on Counterspell, Baleful Strix, and Ephemerate loops with Archaeomancer and Mulldrifter, so proactive disruption and flash flying bodies matter more than cheap removal. Spellstutter Sprite counts itself as a Faerie, so on its own it can counter Ephemerate, Dispatch, or Dispel, and with a second Faerie such as Sneaky Snacker it can also catch Counterspell or Baleful Strix. Its flying body adds evasive pressure, though Baleful Strix and Mulldrifter can block it. Lightning Bolt can kill all of their creatures (Baleful Strix, Mulldrifter, Archaeomancer), but each one has already drawn cards or returned a spell when it entered, and Ephemerate can save the target in response, so trim Bolt for proactive counterplay. Keep Thraben Charm's graveyard-exile mode available against Archaeomancer recursion of their instants and sorceries.
