Grixis Control is a grindy mirror-like matchup full of counterspells and removal, so the extra Negate protects our key spells from Counterspell or Spell Pierce while answering their own card advantage. The extra Thraben Charm's graveyard-exile mode disrupts their Plunder the Trollshaws flashback and denies recursion targets like Baleful Strix. Meeting of Minds is too slow against a deck holding up counterspells, and Prohibit is weak against their higher-cost spells, so both get trimmed. We lean on our superior long-game card advantage engine (Archaeomancer, Mulldrifter, Snap) to out-value their removal-heavy shell.
