Caw Gates fills the board with small, resilient creatures like Sacred Cat, Outlaw Medic, and Melded Moxite tokens, so Drown in Sorrow's -2/-2 is a great blowout that kills Sacred Cat and Robot tokens while your own Troll of Khazad-dum survives comfortably. Weather the Storm's lifegain blunts their grindy lifelink plan and buys time against Prismatic Strands-protected attackers. Cast Down struggles to keep up one-for-one against their token generation, and Pestilence is dangerous here since Prismatic Strands can flashback to prevent all damage from a color, potentially blanking your own sweeper while their board survives.
