Spy Combo is a pure race: they use Balustrade Spy to mill their library and Dread Return to reanimate Lotleth Giant for lethal damage through a triggered ability, not combat. Thraben Charm's graveyard exile mode can strip their yard of Dread Return targets or discarded threats before they can be reanimated, and its damage mode can also finish off a small blocker if needed. Loran's Escape protects your combo piece from removal or a bad block, letting you push through your own game plan without interruption. Prismatic Strands can buy a full turn by preventing all damage from a color, as naming black prevents all damage from Lotleth Giant's triggered ability regardless of whether it would be lethal, as well as any combat damage. Abandon Attachments provides non-targeted card filtering and Sandstorm Eidolon has no relevant targets for its blocking restriction in this matchup, so they're trimmed to streamline your game plan.
