Gruul Ponza ramps into big trampling threats like Annoyed Altisaur and Avenging Hunter, so Weather the Storm's lifegain helps offset trample damage while we assemble our engine. Go for the Throat answers their nonartifact creatures like Eldrazi Repurposer and Arbor Elf before they accelerate further. We trim slower card advantage pieces since surviving their ramped-up threats and disrupting their mana matters more here.
