Affinity is an artifact-heavy aggro deck built around Thoughtcast, Refurbished Familiar, Glint Hawk, Utrom Monitor, and a dense artifact-land manabase, making Steel Sabotage and Annul live answers. Steel Sabotage can counter key artifact spells like Refurbished Familiar or Utrom Monitor, or bounce a troublesome Baleful Strix or Giant's Boulder, while Annul can stop a Cryogen Relic, Refurbished Familiar, or Utrom Monitor from resolving at instant speed. Thoughtcast is a sorcery, so neither card can touch it; leave that to Counterspell. Deem Inferior and Sleep of the Dead are too slow against a deck that curves out efficiently and keeps generating value with Blood Fountain and Nihil Spellbomb, so trim them for the more impactful artifact-specific answers. Keep Counterspell in the maindeck as a flexible catch-all and Dispel for instants like Dispatch and Reckoner's Bargain, and continue protecting Tolarian Terror, whose Ward 2 already taxes Affinity's targeted effects like Dispatch.
