Rakdos Madness Burn runs the same damage engine as the Mono Red version but adds Alms of the Vein for a six-point life swing and Vampire's Kiss for additional discard outlets — this makes their burn even more potent, and the race is even tighter. Hydroblast answers Fiery Temper, Lightning Bolt, Highway Robbery, and Grab the Prize, buying you critical turns and keeping your life total high enough to survive. Gut Shot kills Voldaren Epicure and Sneaky Snacker at zero mana, cutting off their discard outlets and incidental damage before they chain into Fiery Temper. Force Spike is too slow and easily played around given they flood mana into their spells; Sleep of the Dead and Deep Analysis are unacceptably slow in a race this fast. Keep your threats cheap and your life total above Fiery Temper range — Hydroblast is effectively a counterspell for their entire win condition.
