Jeskai Ephemerate wants to loop value creatures like Mulldrifter and Murmuring Mystic with Ephemerate, so Journey to Nowhere answers their key engine piece, though they can respond to its enter trigger by blinking the target with Ephemerate, which leaves Journey with nothing to exile. Even so, it forces them to hold Ephemerate mana and makes their sequencing awkward. Standard Bearer absorbs their targeted removal like Skred, Fanged Flames and Ride's End, protecting our real threats. Prismatic Strands is weaker here because Skred only deals damage to target creature and never hits our life total, and the rest of their deck is built around card advantage rather than a fast clock, so our life total isn't under the pressure Guardians' Pledge or Strands are built for. We're trimming combat tricks for permanent answers and protection since this matchup is more about grinding through their card advantage engine.
