Thraben Charm's damage mode scales with our creature count, making it a flexible way to kill their small creatures and tokens (Clockwork Percussionist, Voldaren Epicure, Rally at the Hornburg's 1/1 Human Soldiers) before a lethal Rally swing. Prismatic Strands can blank a turn of red burn like Galvanic Blast, Lightning Bolt, and Chain Lightning, plus damage from their red creatures, by choosing red, but it only covers the one color chosen. Rally at the Hornburg's Human Soldier tokens are white, so naming red won't stop their combat damage, and we have to pick the color that matters most on the turn we cast it. It also has flashback for a second use. Rite of Consumption and Recommission are too slow and reactive against a deck that can goldfish a kill by turn three, so we trim them for proactive disruption and life-saving tools. Mulligan aggressively for a fast start and removal, since this matchup is a race against their critical-mass combo turn.
