Standard Bearer forces their targeted removal onto itself: Pinnacle Kill-Ship's 10 damage trigger, Kaervek's Torch, and Barrels of Blasting Jelly must all target it while it's on the battlefield. That buys time against a deck that otherwise has little interaction with our board until its giant threats land. Breath Weapon doesn't target, so Standard Bearer can't redirect it and the 1/1 will die to it like our other small creatures. Arms of Hadar's -2/-2 can clean up a 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn token or similarly fragile blocker, though it won't kill their large Bramble Wurm or Maelstrom Colossus. Marauding Blight-Priest and Rite of Consumption are too slow and low-impact against a ramp deck that just wants to deploy huge threats, so we trim them for more resilient disruption. The key to this matchup is applying early pressure before Urza's Tron assembles and casts Maelstrom Colossus or Bramble Wurm.
