Caw-Gates is a midrange deck that uses Basilisk Gate to pump Guardian of the Guildpact and Writhing Chrysalis to enormous sizes while Prismatic Strands provides fog effects that make combat-based racing nearly impossible. Your Skred and Lightning Bolt answer most of their creatures efficiently, and Breath Weapon sweeps the token-heavy boards created by Rally synergies and early Sacred Cats and Lunarch Veterans before they snowball. Destroy Evil exiles Guardian of the Guildpact — a creature that is entirely unaffected by Lightning Bolt and Skred due to its protection from non-multicolored sources — making it a critical answer you must protect. Thraben Charm from the sideboard gives you a second exile mode for Writhing Chrysalis (which regenerates) or enchantment removal for Armadillo Cloak, which turns their threats into life gain engines that race your clock. Dispel, Bonder's Ornament, and Union of the Third Path are too slow and do little against a deck winning through combat damage and combat tricks.
