Mono-Blue Faeries is a tempo-counterspell deck with Counterspell and evasive fliers like Spellstutter Sprite, so we want proactive threats rather than reactive hate. Faerie Macabre still provides a flying blocker/body (a 2/2 flier) that can trade with their small fliers while incidentally offering graveyard interaction if needed. We cut Quirion Ranger and a Wall of Roots since they do nothing against fliers and this matchup is decided by resolving and protecting our combo pieces through their countermagic. Try to play around Counterspell by casting cheaper permanents first and saving Dread Return for a moment they're tapped out.
