Haunting Misery provides a secondary kill condition that doesn't require attacking through their potential blockers and can catch them off guard after they've exhausted their burn spells trying to kill you. Mesmeric Fiend is too slow given they kill on turn three with an optimal draw, and Masked Vandal has no relevant targets in their deck.
