Mono-Red Madness aims to kill you before your auras come online, so the race is decided by whether your creature survives long enough to get suited up — prioritize Lagonna-Band Trailblazer and Akroan Skyguard as your threats since they shrink their removal. Obsidian Acolyte comes in to grant protection from red on your key creatures, effectively making them immune to Lightning Bolt, Fiery Temper, and Lava Dart at a critical moment. Standard Bearer is a high-impact disruptive creature: because it is a Flagbearer, the opponent must target it with their spells and abilities whenever possible, absorbing Lava Darts, Fiery Tempers, and bolts that would otherwise hit your suited-up attacker. Skyward Spider is too slow and Spirit Link is a low-impact aura when you need to focus on speed and protection. Keep your enchantment-based protection spells like Benevolent Blessing and Emerge Unscathed available to respond to direct removal; Benevolent Blessing in particular can prevent Lava Dart flashback from stripping your auras by name.
