Selesnya Company plays Archon of Emeria and Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, which tax our spells and threaten to lock us out of our ramp plan, but Surrak, Elusive Hunter can't be countered and still gets through as a sizable threat. Scrapshooter's gift mode lets us destroy an Archon of Emeria or Enduring Innocence at instant speed if we accept giving them a card, which is a fair trade to remove a problematic hatebear. Ulvenwald Oddity is a middling body here that dies easily to Skyclave Apparition's exile trigger, so it's the first cut, and Polukranos Reborn's recursion value is marginal against their go-wide token plan.
