Mono-Red Sligh is a fast burn deck, and Sphere of Law blunts 2 damage from every one of their red burn spells (Lightning Bolt, Incinerate, Shock, Fireblast), extending our clock to assemble the combo. Abeyance shuts off a turn of burn spells aimed at our face or combo pieces, which is often enough to stabilize. Mana Leak is weak since Sligh plays almost entirely cheap spells that dodge the tax easily, and we trim one Intuition since speed matters more than extra selection against such an aggressive clock. Prioritize Swords to Plowshares on Grim Lavamancer and Ball Lightning, and race to land Opalescence plus Parallax Wave.
