Iggy Pop is a combo deck that wins by cycling Ill-Gotten Gains repeatedly to fuel a lethal Brain Freeze storm, powered by Dark Ritual, Cabal Ritual, Lion's Eye Diamond, and Lotus Petal. Your counterspells — Counterspell, Mana Leak, and especially the eight blue blasts from Blue Elemental Blast and Hydroblast — are your primary tools, since they hit the black rituals and key combo pieces directly. Annul covers Lion's Eye Diamond and Lotus Petal, cutting off their mana acceleration before it starts. Phyrexian Furnace, Disenchant, and most of the sweepers are irrelevant since the opponent has no meaningful creatures and no enchantments in the main, so they come out to make room. Standstill is awkward to leave in, but with Mishra's Factory and Faerie Conclave as threats and their lack of creatures, you can leverage it to pull ahead on cards while holding up countermagic.
