Naturalize comes in as instant-speed enchantment removal to back up that disruption and can also hit Survival mid-combat when they try to activate it. Ravenous Baloth is your primary threat upgrade: a 4/4 for four that can't be cleanly answered by a single Lightning Bolt or Incinerate, and the life gain meaningfully blunts the burn plan. Vendetta handles Arrogant Wurm and other large threats that Smother's two-mana-or-less ceiling misses. Pernicious Deed remains your best late-game reset against a board full of Quirion Dryads and Madness creatures, so protect your mana for it and sequence your discard to clear the way before they can rebuild.
