Circle of Protection: Red is excellent against a deck built entirely around red damage spells and red creatures, buying crucial time against Bolt, Incinerate, and Fireblast. Bane of the Living comes out because as a face-down 2/2 it dies too easily to their removal before flipping, and Wrath of God plus Swords to Plowshares are already enough sweeper/removal against their small creatures. Keep Exalted Angel as a premium lifegain blocker and Eternal Dragon as a resilient flying blocker, and prioritize Swords to Plowshares on Grim Lavamancer and Vindicate on Cursed Scroll to deny their reach.
