Mono-Black Midrange brings real disruption to this matchup with Duress, Cabal Therapy, and Withered Wretch, the last of which can exile cards from your graveyard and directly interfere with your Hermit Druid plan and Shapeshifter's graveyard-dependent text. The extra Duress copies let you proactively strip away their own Duress, Cabal Therapy, or a removal spell before they can disrupt your hand, improving your odds of resolving the combo cleanly. Elvish Spirit Guide is a fine cut since its mana acceleration is less valuable than protecting your combo pieces from discard. Watch for Withered Wretch when sequencing your graveyard-based lines and try to play around it if it resolves.
