Survival Elves has no counterspells and no graveyard hate, so Hermit Druid resolves cleanly; the real threats are Swords to Plowshares picking off a key creature and Armageddon punishing a slow draw. A second Duress (Sorcery) lets us strip Swords to Plowshares or Survival of the Fittest before they can interact with our combo pieces. Xantid Swarm's attack trigger stops the opponent from casting spells that turn, which is a clean way to push through a Hermit Druid activation or a Shapeshifter kill sequence without fear of Swords to Plowshares. We trim the two Elvish Spirit Guide and two Wall of Roots since our combo plan doesn't need the extra ramp against a deck without hard interaction, prioritizing disruption and protection instead.
