Annul is strong against this opponent's artifact and enchantment-dependent shell, cheaply countering Oath of Druids, Sphere of Resistance, or Mox Diamond before they can take effect. Back to Basics punishes their heavily nonbasic manabase built around Brushland, Rishadan Port, Treetop Village, and fetchlands, while your all-Island base keeps functioning normally. Daze is less effective since this midrange opponent isn't racing you on pure speed, so trade it for more proactive, on-axis answers. Be ready to counter Oath of Druids itself as the top priority, since it can generate a huge Terravore or other creature advantage if left unanswered.
